Lucia Flexer-Marshall is a freelance contemporary dancer and filmmaker based in Brooklyn. Originally from the Oakland, California, Lucia has had the privilege of performing with many Bay Area with companies including Fullstop Dance, Robert Moses Kin, Garrett and Moulton Productions, Ziru, PUSH Dance Company and Erin Yen. Since moving to New York, she has performed with Alessandra Corona Performing Works, Forza Dance, Maria Talavera, and Stephanie Saywell.

Lucia is the co-founder of the production company Soap Impressions, in collaboration with filmmaker Joaquin Bear. Since its inception in 2022, the duo have released 7 theatrical, character driven short dance films, with more on the way.

​

Growing up Oakland, Lucia trained at the Oakland Ballet School, later joining the Shawl Anderson Youth Ensemble in high school. In 2020 she graduated from UC Santa Cruz with a BA in Dance and minor in Politics, where she studied under dance faculty members Gerald Casel, Cid Pearlman and Cynthia Ling Lee. Additional training includes the Alonzo King Lines Ballet Summer Intensive, California State Summer School for the Arts, Camping Paris, and b12. Since 2019, Lucia has expanded her movement training to include Ido Portal Movement Culture, studying under his mentees in Santa Cruz and San Francisco.

Lucia is also dance educator and pilates instructor, with experience teaching contemporary, creative movement and Ballet to students of all ages. While living in the Bay Area, she taught at Roco Dance in Marin, Oakland Ballet School, ODC and Shawl Anderson. In Fall 2021 and Spring 2022, she was a guest choreographer for Shawl Anderson Dance Center's youth performance companies Youth Performance Project and YouthCo, respectively. Lucia currently teaches pilates at Pilates Habitat in New York.
